Tenement Museum/
2019, Branding, Typography
For thirty years, the Tenement Museum has preserved and interpreted the history of immigration through the personal experiences of newcomers to New York’s Lower East Side, forging emotional connections between visitors and immigrants past and present, and enhancing appreciation for the role immigrants play in shaping the American identity.
The rebranding project for Tenement Museum was developed in Kevin Gatta’s Type and Information Systems class at Pratt Institute, MFA Communications Design.
The inspiration for my rebranding project is the traditional New York City apartment building structure, and the late 19th century’s NY city newspaper, where house rental advertisements became popular.
